  • Canon Media/IP & Canon Characters

This page contains all information and rules on what published media/intellectual property [IP] we consider to be 'canon,' for the purposes of any and all >CreativeClash events<.

  • Canon Character Rules

These rules apply to any & all canon characters used in all CreativeClash events.
    See also: >BlorboBash rules< and our >Three Strike System<

    - 1 -
We do not allow any IP/media/project/etc made by any creator who is currently under 18 years of age. We do not allow exceptions to this even for SFW-only content.

    - 2 -
We expect participants of any/all CreativeClash events to do their best to ensure a work is intended to appeal to a broad audience, and not someone's personal project they are simply sharing online.

See further down this page for more information on what we determine as canon media.

    - 3 -
Any and all canon characters listed in any Character/Fandom/Blorbo Hub must have a link to the source material. A link to a wiki page (fan-made or otherwise) is sufficient.

    - 4 -
AUs [alternate universe] and headcanons of canons are allowed; please see our >OC/Canon chart at the bottom of this page< to determine if your AU/headcanon would be considered Original or Canon.

Note that AUs of canon characters cannot be listed on both an OC Hub and a Fandom Hub - it must be one or the other, and you may not swap them back and forth between events.

If you are found to be using canon character(s) from any IP made by someone under 18, you will be subject to repercussion (up or including a potential ban from all CreativeClash spaces).

Using a personal project (as opposed to what we'd consider 'canon IP' - see below) for canon characters in CreativeClash events will result in a warning and/or a potential strike.

Missing a source link, or listing an AU on both Fandom and OC Hubs, will result in a warning and a request to amend the post appropriately. Continued violations of Canon Character Rules 3 or 4 may result in a strike.

  • FAQ

As rules may vary slightly between different events, for further questions or information regarding canon characters please refer to >each event's rules and FAQ<.

What about AU (alternative universe) version of a canon character, or headcanons?

AUs are highly variable! If your AU version merely changes one or two features (such as physical appearance, gender, setting, personality, etc) then it is likely to still be 'canon enough' for BlorboBash. Things like modern AUs of fantasy/scifi settings, or genderbends (Rule 34), or personality swaps between canon characters, are likely to still qualify for BlorboBash.

In general, if you have a headcanon for a character but they are otherwise canon in profile, design, and settign, we would consider this to still be canon.

If you're unsure, we recommend that you ask in the >Canon Character Help< thread!

Do characters with no canon design count as canon characters, or OCs?

This can vary depending on the design you go with and your intention of it. For a more personalised answer, please ask us in the >Canon Character Help< thread.

In general, if your intention is to keep the character close to the canon interpretation then it would be considered canon. See our chart under "Characters inspired by Canon Characters" on the >BlorboBash info page<.

    Examples:

    • Cecil from Welcome to Nightvale has no canon appearance. You would like to include the backstory about his mother, where he lives, his romantic relationship, and his cat, but have a unique design for him that you created. You keep as much the same as possible with what is described about him in the podcast. This would be considered canon.
    • Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives is described as prematurely greying, looking older than he is, and quite scrawny. You keep his personality the same of being rude, dismissive, and avoiding violence. You change him working for the Archives and come up with another story instead where him and Martin own a bookshop. This would be considered an AU, but still canon.
    • Keith from Left 4 Dead 2 is never seen, only described in Ellis' stories. He has no canon appearance, and we don't know how much of Ellis' stories are true. You create an appearance for him, a backstory, and his personality. This could be considered both an OC and a canon character, and we would allow you to pick which one you'd want to list him as. Characters can only be listed as one or the other, not both.
  • Is this Media Allowed?
This section contains all information on what published media/intellectual property (IP) we consider to be 'canon,' for the purposes of any and all >CreativeClash events<.

We do not allow any IP made by any creator currently under 18 years of age.

Please double-check the "Allowed" and "Not Allowed" lists at the bottom of this page to see if individual media or characters are permissible in CreativeClash events.
