  • ReverseClash event info header

ReverseClash is a small event that runs in December with the idea of being as self-indulgent as possible!

The 'reverse' part of the name comes from the idea that instead of attacking opponents and fighting each other, this event is all about you and your characters! You earn points by submitting creations of your own characters, with bonus points awarded if you use the prompts we provide for the duration of the event. You're welcome to include other people's characters in your work, but the idea behind this is for you to expand on your own characters and take some time for yourself!

The event has an overarching prompt theme, and new prompts are released weekly, so you will always have something new to help inspire or motivate you.

You could expand on that character lore you've been wanting to work on, or make that reference you've been putting off for ages, or build on character interactions between you and your friend.

The current ReverseClash event ends at: Dec 28, 23:59 UTC

  • General Event Rules

    - 1 -

Respect the creator's boundaries and only create content for them that they approve of if you are including other characters besides your own. When in doubt, ask them if they're comfortable with your idea, or don't create that content at all.

    - 2 -

All creations submitted must be created by you during the timeframe of the event. You are not allowed to submit creations made prior to the event, or ask to submit after the event deadline.

    - 3 -

You must include content warnings on the content if it is applicable on Hubs and submissions, especially when involving Dead Dove or potentially triggering content.

    - 4 -
Submit your attacks using the submissions database provided for the event. Any other methods of submission won't count towards your points total.

    - 5 -
No AI-generated content is allowed to be posted as a submission, or in your Character Hubs as reference material. Please see Rule 15 in our >Rules<.

  • Submission Rules

    - 1 -

Submissions must be posted on the submissions database created for the event.
Images must be posted to a valid off-site image host; links to images hosted by Discord are invalid as submissions.

    - 2 -

Submissions must have each of the required fields filled out, with further information provided in the fields where it is requested. If anything is missing, a Staff member will comment on the submission to request that you edit the post before it is counted.

    - 3 -

Submissions must include warnings for content where appropriate. In general, it's better to include too many warnings than not enough.

    - 4 -

Submissions involving another person's OC must involve at least one OC belonging to you, otherwise the submission won't count for points.

Your OCs must have equal or more presence in the content as the other OCs.

    - 5 -

Submissions involving canon characters must involve at least one OC that belongs to you, otherwise the submission won't count for points.
The OCs involved must have equal or more presence in the content as the canon character.

    - 6 -

Characters involved in submissions must be fictional characters, either canon or original. We don't allow real people to be depicted in submissions (characters from live action media are fine). Please see our FAQ relating to canon characters below.

    - 7 -
We allow collaborative submissions for ReverseClash. When posting a collaborative submission, you must list all collaborators, and a breakdown explaining which user did what part.

    - 8 -

You are allowed to use a base that you yourself have created, at any time (including prior to RC), for ReverseClash submissions.
Submissions created on bases made by other artists are not valid for ReverseClash submissions.

    - 9 -

Not a rule, but a reminder. You do not need the submitted characters to be included in any character hub to count for points. This is not a requirement for ReverseClash.

  • Original Character Rules
Characters for this event do not need to be included in a character hub.

    - 1 -

The original characters (OCs) that you are claiming as yours must have been created by you or adopted by you. You may not post content of a character who does not belong to you. (see Rule 5 for some exceptions)

    - 2 -

If including your OC in your character hub, all creations you post of the OC must be created by you, or include a credit to the original creator. This only needs to be a username.

This includes crediting Picrew or dollmaker artists.

    - 3 -

OCs listed in character hubs must have content warnings if applicable, especially when involving Dead Dove or other sensitive content.

    - 4 -

Follow the basic posting template provided >in this thread< if listing your OC in your character hub. You may add to this if you want.

    - 5 -
If you share a character with another participating user, you may both claim the character as yours for ReverseClash, but it must state which user you share them with.

If you share a character with a user who does not participate in CreativeClash events, you may post the character as if it was yours but mention it is shared.

  • Questions Regarding Canon Characters

Here are common questions or situations regarding canon characters that we are including here as well as on our FAQ page for easy reference.

Can I post a character who is original but is set in a fandom world?

Yes, as long as the character is not a canon character. Fan characters (fan OCs) are allowed!
This includes customisable player characters in MMOs or similar games.

    Examples:

    • Aether/Lumine from Genshin Impact would not be allowed as they are canon characters, even if the player acts as them and can rename them.
    • The Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy XIV is allowed as it is a fully customisable character you can create.
    • Red from Pokemon is a canon character, but your Pokemon trainer who is inspired by him would be their own character.

Can I post a character who is based off of a canon character but isn't actually canon?

We generally allow canon-inspired characters where it is apparent they are more of an original character simply inspired by canon content, rather than simply an AU version of a canon character. (See our "Characters inspired by Canon Characters" chart below.) If your character has their own identity, profile, and/or visual design that reflects they are intended to be different from the canon character inspiration, and they are not just "literally canon character in a different setting," we would consider this an original character, and not canon.

If you are unsure if your character qualifies as a 'canon character' or an original character, you may ask in >Help & Support<

We encourage people to include information on the character's profile to explain who they are to make this clear to everyone, and to ensure they don't get mixed up.

We do not moderate visual similarities as we trust our community to follow our rules. We reserve the right to take down profiles we believe have been made in bad faith.

Can I submit an attack with my friend's OC and my favourite canon character?

Submissions involving canon characters must feature at least one OC belonging to yourself, otherwise it doesn't count for points. Posting a submission involving someone else's OC and your favourite canon character wouldn't count for points as it doesn't involve one of your OCs.

Can I post a submission where an OC is interacting with a real person?

All characters involved in submissions must be fictional characters, whether canon or original.

We don't have issue with anyone who indulges in real-person fiction (RPF), however for the event we don't allow submissions involving real people. This extends to content creators, such as YouTubers and streamers. While we allow pairings involving characters from live action media, we not allow depictions of the actors portraying them.

If you're unsure, please feel free to ask for our opinion via the >Help Forum<, social media DMs, or via Discord.

    Examples:

    • Deadpool is allowed, Ryan Reynolds is not
    • Caleb Widogast is allowed, Liam O'Brien is not
    • Steve Harrington is allowed, Joe Keery is not
    • Wednesday Addams is allowed, Jenna Ortega is not
  • Characters inspired by Canon Characters

We understand that people have characters which are inspired by canon characters, including fictives and kinsonas.

The chart below is help you determine whether or not we might consider your OC to be an original character or a canon character for the purposes of ReverseClash.

This generally depends on two main factors - appearance and backstory. Is their appearance wildly different from their canon appearance, or is it very similar? Do they have the same backstory and personality, or has it been completely changed?

You can place your character on this chart to see where they fit.
Characters falling in the cyan and yellow sections are allowed. If they fall in the pink section, please ask us for clarification. If they fall in the navy section, then they probably won't be allowed, but you may ask us to be sure.

There is a thread in the >Help & Support< forum specifically for asking about these kinds of characters, and if they would be allowed to be listed for the event. (This is only visible to logged in members)

A blank version of this chart is >here< if you'd like to place your own characters on it.
